MY 6TH ANNIVERSARY
By Jose Gomez, Jr., CEA, MVTA

I remember years back, after discovering that my young wife of 3 years had started another relationship with a stock boy at Walmart, how uncertain I was about what God had in store for me. Looking at Mayra (who I refer to as the "new model"), I feel so blessed. She is everything I would have ever dared to ask for, although it has been a rocky road. We had to deal with so much emotional baggage that it almost seemed impossible to reconcile at one point. I am so glad we found a way.

I couldn't picture life without her. I guess that's how it is when you are in love. What I really pray is that even in the times when the feelings of being "in love" seem so far away, I will see our life together as the only non-negotiable option. Actually, I'm determined that it will be the case.

What a wonderful life with such a wonderful wife...

Here's a few great ideas for reminding your wife that you love her, even if it's not your anniversary:
  • Buy her one flower and drive it all the way to her job (or to the house) on your short lunch break

  • Look at her across a crowded room at the your next social function and relax your eyes on her. When she notices you looking at her, smile gently and look down. Then, keep doing whatever you were doing.

  • When you kiss your wife, pull her close by her waist and breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose. Then, tell her you love the way she smells. Then, kiss her quickly and go to work.

  • When you are watching something you like watching and she sits next to you, get close to her, and whisper to her, telling her that you can't wait until the program is over.

  • Never take her for granted.
It always helps if you do these things sincerely and gently. The key is to mean it every moment and realize that she is everything you have ever wanted - even if only by faith.

How special and deeply moving. You are an awesome man of God. I pray that your Love continues to grow deeply rooted with Mayra and the Lord!
