As some of you know, my wife is a model. Recently, she started actively modeling again after taking a few years off to help establish our church daycare. She is pretty amazing, and doors are opening for her everywhere. But, to me, she is much more than a pretty lady. She’s a REALLY pretty lady! I’m just kidding. My wife is not just a talented fashion model, but she is also an amazing ROLE model for so many women and young girls.

She Has Come a Long Way

When I met Mayra, she was pretty rough. She is ex-military, so she was tough, independent, and accustomed to a different lifestyle than what I was used to. She and her sister were raised by their mom, another very strong, gifted woman. But, when God started dealing with her life, Mayra immediately responded. Within a year, her lifestyle changed. Within a few more years, her heart had completely transformed. Like anyone, there are many areas that she is still working on. But, her transformation has inspired so many people to follow God and compelled people to listen to her speak.

She Is Strong and Intelligent

I have always been surrounded with strong, intelligent women. It is what attracted me so much to Mayra. When I met her, I was intrigued by how much she had experienced. She picks up on facts like a sponge, always trying to find ways to use them in her conversations. I laugh at that sometimes, which really irritates her. But, it’s part of what makes her who she is. Just like studying the Bible and teaching in church. She absorbs the information and teaches with real conviction and responsible facts. The ladies love her. Can you tell I do, too?

She is Elegant, but Fun

Boy, does she clean up good! But, she can dress down and look like “one of the guys” just as easily. She’s the kind of woman who can appreciate a heady movie like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, while quoting lines from Napoleon Dynamite. She loves poetry as well as the basketball game at Chuck E Cheese. She loves museums and art, but can get down and dirty with some laser tag. Most of all, she is a person who can snap into focus on a task as quickly as she can snap out just to kiss me.

Who Else Could POSSIBLY Be For Me?

She lets me work late. She pinches me when she walks by me. She is goofy and keeps me happy. She is careful not to spend too much money. She recently bought me a $2,500 guitar.

What else could I ask for?!?!

I have to say that I look forward to the coming year, another year with a woman that I grow deeper in love with every day. As she looks into my eyes, sometimes with obvious admiration, I sometimes wonder if she really understands how much I admire and respect her. To me, she is much more than a model, she is a true daughter of God.

And…well…she is pretty hot, too!
